ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Combating food Insecurity among vulnerable individuals and households in Terego and Zombo is a pilot project that will support 17000 individuals from refugees and refugee hosting communities of Terego and other food-stressed communities in the Zombo district of West Nile .
Uganda was selected along with other five Countries (Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mali, South Sudan and Syria) by Oxfam to be part of a one-year multi-country proposal to NORAD on Combating Food insecurity among the most vulnerable refugees and host communities.
The Combating Food Insecurity Among Vulnerable Individuals and Households in Terego and Zombo project reflects the urgent need to reduce food insecurity among the most vulnerable populations of Zombo and Terego which appeared as phase 2 stressed districts under the IPC report.
Accordingly, the €900000 project will support a wide range of activities that promote climate-resilient food production and income of small-scale food producers as well as food availability in local markets; increase most vulnerable people’s immediate access to food through cash-based programs; and enhance the nutrition of particularly children in In Zombo and Terego districts.
The project will be implemented by Oxfam in Uganda through three local partners that include; the Agency for Community Empowerment (AFCE), Youth Social Advocacy Team ( Y-SAT)and the International Foundation for Recovery and Development ( IFRAD). It will aim to reach approximately 17000 individuals over the course of one year.
