About the Project
Oxfam in consortium with Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA), Community Empowerment for Rural Development (CEFORD) and African Women and Youth Action for Development (AWYAD) have been implementing this project in the settlements of Kyaka II, Imvepi and Rhino Camp including Omugo delivering WASH and protection interventions. However a modification request was made which increased a consortium's geographic focus to Kyangwali and Nakivale and addition of Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief (HIJRA) as a new partner.
Key Achievements
The project has increased and sustained water supply options through enhanced operation and management of established WASH systems, new installations in Kyaka II; and extensions as well as optimization of the facilities to meet needs of existing and additional refugees.
The project addressed the gender and protection needs of the refugees and host community as well as the social cohesion aspects of the targeted population.
The project also supported access to dignified, safe, clean, and functional sanitation facilities.
Oxfam and partners leveraged on the experience and lessons gained in responding to the refugee crisis in both West Nile and South Western regions of the country to provide timely and quality humanitarian response.
