The Land Awareness Week aims to bridge the awareness gaps and also demystify the various misconceptions around land laws (NLP 2013, Land Acquisition Act, Succession Act 1906, the
Limitations Act, to mention a few); dissemination of information on the operations of the MLHUD Zonal Offices. Furthermore, it enables documentation of evidence based land issues to
inform national level advocacy on land governance and land administration issues/policies and laws.
In 2017, the Land Awareness Week was held in Amuru district and aimed at providing platforms for massive community awareness raising and community capacity strengthening on land rights, land governance, administration and land laws for effective and improved delivery and accountability in the land services.
A number of engagements took place during the land awareness week including equipping small-scale farmers (women, youth, PWDs and men) and grassroots organizations with information on land rights, land laws and collective advocacy; community land rights dialogues and provision of legal aid services to small scale farmers (women, youth and men).
