About Voice

Voice is an innovative grant facility to support rightsholders and groups facing marginalisation or discrimination in their efforts to exert influence in accessing productive and social services and political participation. Voice operates in a context where civic space and power is shifting at a fast pace, and closing rather than opening. This requires new responses by civil society.

Knowledge Exchange event on Influencing Unbound

This Knowledge Exchange on Influencing Unbound, rightsholder groups taking lead, is the second in a series of Knowledge Exchanges Voice1 is hosting. They provide a unique opportunity to bring together grantees, regional or global stakeholders, knowledge institutes, Oxfam/Hivos and Voice, to exchange and deepen our knowledge and understanding on a number of issues that surface in the light of Voice grant making and linking and learning.

This Knowledge Exchange aims to stir discussions and integrate reflections on the experiences of rightsholders, who take the lead in influencing for social change, recognition, and self-determination at different levels. In particular, it would like to explore the following learning questions:

  • What is according to you/ your organisation the strength of being self-led? How is this similar to or different from advocating on behalf of others?
  • Who drives the influencing agenda or message? How is the larger rightsholder group and society involved?
  • What are some of the challenges you experience, both internal and external, that prevent us (civil society) from sparking the change that is needed?
  • What behaviour and thinking makes the work of change-makers genuinely transformative (how does it feel? What makes it worthwhile?)
